Payment journeys under PSD2, from a hotel group to twelve product lines

  • PSD2 / 3DS
  • Checkout UX
  • Subscription flows
  • Regulated markets
  • Multi-currency

The payment step is where every rule applies at once: card schemes, PSD2, consumer law, and a person who has to understand what they are paying before they press the button. I have designed that step for a hotel group, a retail bank, and a portfolio of subscription products.

  • 12product lines on one payment standard
  • 3payment providers behind the same journey
  • PSD23DS journeys across international markets

Accor Live Limitless

The booking platform and app of the Accor hotel group, across international markets. I owned booking and payment on web and app: how and when the guest pays, price details across rooms and currencies, loyalty benefits kept visible through to payment, and 3DS journeys under PSD2 that had to work in every market at once.

LCL, retail banking

At Idean, Capgemini's design arm, I designed core features of the customer app of a French retail bank: transfers and their limits, mortgage tracking, budgeting. High-stakes UX, where clarity and microcopy are the security layer, and where every error state is the product.

The standard every payment page follows

At Horizon Web I own checkout and subscription across twelve product lines, with three payment providers. The standard: the trial price and its length, the price that follows, cancellation in plain words, the acceptance checkboxes as shared components, add-ons shown as add-ons, and a button that states the final amount. Charged in euros, displayed in the customer's currency. On a phone, where most people pay, the payment bar is sticky and Apple Pay sits in it.

A merchant account is granted only after the payment provider has tested the funnel and judged the features. I prototype each product in code before production so it can be reviewed early.

Ridlyy, one of the group's subscription products: the trial checkout on desktop and mobile. One amount, the card form, the order summary, the subscription terms beside the button.
